After being teased online, revealed at Virgil Abloh’s ‘Figures of Speech’ exhibit at the MCA and sold at auction for an astronomical price, the latest sneaker from Off-White and Nike Jordan’s ongoing partnership is finally getting a release. It’s a relatively muted take – for Abloh, anyway – on the iconic Air Jordan 4 that sheds all the Chicago Bulls associations. Instead, a neutral sail covers the entirety – save for a striking white on the midsole – in an almost prototypical fashion. The flying wings and ‘Nike Air’ heel tab are carried over from the model’s on-court days, while an industrial hang tag and “AIR” text add signature Off-White touches to complete the look.
